The Record is the last album of the Bee Gees career that was released before the sudden and untimely death of their brother, Maurice Gibb, and includes a pretty comprehensive retrospective of their career. It begins with their hit, New York Mining Disaster 1941, continuing chronologically through the many high points of their career, and ends with the song that really launched their career, Spicks And Specks.

Interestingly, there are an additional two tracks on the UK version of this album, with the best treat being a version of How Can You Mend A Broken Heart in which brother Barry carries the lead vocals for the entire song. Unless one is a die-hard fan (or just extremely observant), the listener may not realize that the "official" version of this song has Robin doing the lead vocals on the intro and Barry carrying the lead for the remainder of the song. This, of course, makes the UK version of this album just a little more special for the fans.

Oh, and for the uninitiated, the other bonus track on the UK release is Jumbo.
