Album Notes
After successfully blending the most popular styles of African music on his Graceland album Paul Simon chose the best musicians he knew to join him in introducing that music to the world. He added the distinctive styles of Miriam Makeba, Hugh Masakela and Ladysmith Black Mambazo and took the troupe to Africa.
The Graceland tour, which has played to diverse audiences of thousands throughout the world gained a reputation as an epic event when it went to Africa and played to a racially mixed audience of over 45,000 people. Recorded live on location in Harare, Zimbabwe, the show combines a mix of music from Simon's Graceland album with some of the best examples of African music.
