Rusty Wier - Don't It Make You Wanna Dance

Don't It Make You Wanna Dance is "the only song I ever made any money from," declares its writer, Rusty Wier. While you might not be familiar with his own version of the song, you may have heard Bonnie Raitt do it on the Urban Cowboy soundtrack. It's a really catchy tune that - well, makes you wanna dance. 'Nuff said.

Rusty Wier is well known in his native state of Texas, but is virtually unheard of outside its borders. That's a real shame too, because he has some of the finest country music you'll ever hear. Some of his better songs include a strong cover of the poignant ballad, Texas Morning, a laid back version of Tulsa Turnaround (which was also covered by Three Dog Night), and the riotously funny "cause for his third divorce" I Heard You Been Layin' My Old Lady. You can catch him playing at the Saxon Pub in Austin, Texas every Thursday night. A must-see act.
